Opening up the Web with OpenSocial
Today Google announced the OpenSocial API, a set of common APIs for building social applications across the web. The primary benefit is that it allows developers to build applications once that will work on multiple participating social networking sites. The initial list of sites includes MySpace, Hi5, Bebo, Orkut, Friendster, SixApart, Linkedin, Ning and Salesforce.com. We’re thrilled to have been one of a small group of companies working with Google on the new API over the past few months. We beleive strongly in the platform and the potential it promises. We will be releasing the “Rate My Friends” application among others at the consumer launch later this year.
Being on the cutting edge of this major development has allowed us to broaden our suite of offerings to include the ability for our clients to easily run user-generated contests and promotions across all participating sites simultaneously as well as custom application development using the OpenSocial API.
