As for the rating, I don't vote everyday on my images (which is really how these contests run), so I usually don't score very high in the contests :-) But I actually don't care about the 'contest' aspect of this site (since it is not a true photography contest, just a popularity contest). I'm here because I like to see other folks' images and I like to share mine!!
Don't be silly! I had help from a program that makes a nice layout for collages, I make the layout then just fit my pictures in. It still can take me hours, but I guess it's worth it :-)

Hey, thanks for looking and thanks for the feedback! I'll tell you what, I made a huge leap in my photography skills just this past year after I bought a digital SLR (Nikon D80). It is SO much better than a digital point-and-shoot, which was all I had before! Of course I've dropped a TON of money buying the camera, 4 lenses, filters, software, blah blah blah... But I love it so much :-)
